In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Comet:
Week 5 is here and there are a ton of moving pieces to considerā¦
āØļø Proceed cautiously with Michael Carter? Jeremy Fowler says the Cardinals will āride the hot handā on Sunday. This introduces even more risk for the Carter spot start, considering he was already going to lose pass work to Emari Demercado. Now we also have to be concerned about Bam Knight entering the fray. Our consensus rankings reflect this risk (RB30). That said, heās an intriguing DFS play at $4,000 on DraftKings.
šļø David Montgomery TD lock? DMont is returning home to Cincy where his sister, who was paralyzed in a car accident, will be watching him play for the first time. If you donāt think Dan Campbell is getting this man a TD today, then you might not know ball. Ian agrees.
š Donāt count on Bowers. After missing practices all week with his knee injury, Brock Bowers is not expected to play today vs. the Colts. The same goes for Michael Mayer. Some streamer options I like for today via our projections: Dalton Schultz (back-to-back games with 6 targets), Darren Waller (40% TPRR in his debut), Mason Taylor (increased role matched coachspeak), Tommy Tremble (solid role), and Chig Okonkwo (nice matchup).
š” Squeaky wheels? A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are confirmed pissed about their roles. I wouldnāt be surprised to see them get manufactured some looks in the red zone vs. the Broncos today.
š°ļø Sneaky RBs to stash. Keaton Mitchell will be active today. Heās got juice, so Iād pick him up on teams where your bench needs RB upsideā¦Also, Tyjae Spears is expected to play today after a long absence with an ankle injury. He should be rostered everywhere, as wellā¦A few others to grab now for cheap: Brashard Smith (we talked about him this week), Sean Tucker (could force a split with Rachaad White), Isaiah Davis (the new no. 2 for the Jets).
āļø Misc notes. Taysom Hill is making his season debut today. Considering Juwan Johnson is questionable with an ankle injury, this is notableā¦Adonai Mitchell is definitely still in the dog house after costing the team 14 points last week.
Good luck this week!

Itās October, time when summer is really over in most of the country, with cooler temperatures and āreal weatherā needing to be monitored in case it can impact play on the field. Quick aside: WE NEED MORE DOMES!
Anyway, Chris Allen is our guy when it comes to weather, and heās keeping an eye on how things are going down in DUUUUVAAAALLL ahead of the Chiefs-Jaguars on Monday Night Football. He also takes a last-minute look at the rankings and much more in our Week 5 Cheat Sheet. ā¬ļø

Yes, that Cowboys-Jets game may be a target for some DFS players, but donāt take your eye off Texans-Ravens. C.J. Stroud-Nico Collins could be a fun stack against the porous Baltimore defense. Then on the other side, Derrick Henry could be the focal point of the offense with Lamar Jackson sidelined with injury.
Geoff Ulrich takes a hard look at the Week 5 slate on FanDuel, highlighting stacks and some players with significant advantages. šš¼

JaāMarr Chase, remember him? The consensus 1.01 in fantasy drafts that concluded a little more than a month ago. Triple Crown winner from just a year ago. Yup, crazy good player, but boy has his production taken a hit with Jake Browning replacing the injured Joe Burrow.
Geoff Ulrich reminds us that the game environment in the battle of the catsāBengals-Lionsāmay be the perfect time to get Chase at a bargain before he blows up in a shootout. Plus, some low-priced moonshots that could pay off after letting you squeeze in a pricey stud at the top of your lineup. ā¬ļø
