In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Hims, it's time for fantasy football overreactions, WR/CB matchups to target and avoid, and start/sit calls.

In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Hims:
A lot of people in the fantasy football space will tell you not to overreact to anything youāve seen this early in the season. That, in fact, any strong reaction is an overreaction.
āYou shouldnāt put so much stock into such a small sample size!ā they scream, alliteratively.Ā
Well I say ⦠do it. Overreact. Let yourself FEEL something, for goodness sake! Just try not to do it in a way that will implode your whole season and ruin all the hard work you put in these last few weeks ⦠or months. (Thereās always a catch, isnāt there?)Ā
With that in mind, here are some things Iām probably āoverreactingā to, and I invite you to do the same.
In just two games, the Packers tight end has racked up 140 yards and two touchdowns. Never mind that 89% of those yards came this past Thursday after Green Bayās WR1 was injured on the opening drive. Minor details!
As someone whoās been on Kraft long before his Week 2 glow-up, this doesnāt feel like overreacting, though.Ā
Last year, the dude ranked 11th among all qualified pass catchers in Yards Per Target, right between Nico Collins and Justin Jefferson. (The Kraft Single in that WR sandwich, if you will.) Among just tight ends, he ranked:
With Jayden Reed sidelined for several weeks, Kraft could produce like a truly elite tight end.Ā
Iāve already apologized for insinuating ā err, outright saying ā we were probably chasing a fantasy ghost with Deebo Samuel this season. After all, heās a 29-year-old with durability concerns who changed teams and has only two seasons with 1,000+ scrimmage yards under his belt.
And yet ā¦
Through two weeks, heās on pace for more than 150 targets, has a rushing and a receiving touchdown, and is generally out there partying like itās 2021āFireworks included. Itās been vintage Deebo, and Iāll be tripping over myself to call him a weekly starter going forward in my TikTok livestreams.Ā
He might be the savior your team needs! Especially if you drafted some Floridian receivers ā¦
As bad as those puns were, Miami was even worse in all facets in Week 1. And while you canāt give me a wedgie to teach me a lesson about my awful wordplay, you can sit most of your Dolphin fantasy assets until they prove theyāre worthy of occupying such valuable real estate.
Only DeāVon Achane earned a Top 10 spot at his position in our consensus rankings this week. And frankly, walking red flag Tyreek Hill being inside our Top 40 WRs is a personal affront to me and my loved ones.
I know Pete āGlass Half Fullā Overzet and John āSilver Liningsā Laghezza are both preparing for a bounceback against the bumbling Patriots, but Iām not so confident. Ace Ventura is not coming to rescue the Dolphins this time. Mike McDaniel will not save us, so we have no choice but to save ourselves. Therefore Iām trading Tyreek to the highest bidder (maybe Chris Allen?) before he can hurt me any further.

Matthew Freedman isnāt always a wet blanket. He also has his favorites. Here they are, by position:

Time to take Justin Herbertās 2025 opener seriously. Dwain McFarland has the Chargers QB and others moving up and down the rankings ahead of Week 2.

Is Travis Hunter getting ready to pop? Mark Drumheller makes a case for the two-way star in his weekly feature.

While the Lionsā 27-13 Week 1 loss to the Packers set off some fire alarms in the Motor City, there was a constant that kept beating like a rhythmic heartbeat. Amon-Ra St. Brown saw his usual target share inside, which should lead to yet another dominant season. Are the Bears a matchup he can further exploit?
Chris Allen analyzed several wide receiver/cornerback matchups and identified several to target and avoid in Week 2. Thereās a rookie breakout to keep an eye on in Week 2, and going forward.⤵ļø

Coach Gene Clemons is no stranger to bold calls that come through. He did call George Pickens a sit before his quiet opening week against the Cowboys. Now heās calling for a running back we drafted among the top 10 backs to ride the pine in Week 2? Thatās a hot take that will make many cry.
Coach Gene and John Laghezza are back with their Start āEm, Sit āEm feature. A couple rookies get a starting spotlight, while a QB who was much maligned after his Week 1 game gets a starterās nod. Check this out before setting your lineup. ⤵ļø
