What Christian Watson's Extension Means For His Fantasy Football And Dynasty Value

It’s safe to say the Green Bay Packers have been busy at wide receiver this offseason.
After moving on from both Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks, the Packers have since retained two wideouts. First, a three-year extension for Jayden Reed towards the end of April. And now?
Christian Watson isn’t going anywhere either.
The Packers rewarded their WR1 with a four-year, $110.5 million extension on Thursday, placing him just below Alec Pierce’s per-year contract with the Colts. Injuries have played a major part in Watson’s career so far, but when he’s been on the field, he’s made a ton of plays. He’ll look to continue to do so in Green Bay for the foreseeable future.

Christian Watson’s 2026 Fantasy Football Outlook
A 2024 late-season ACL tear sidelined Watson for the first seven games of last season, presenting serious risk as a fantasy option. But when he made his debut in Week 8, Watson wasted no time showing his immense upside. From Weeks 8-18, Watson ran 72% of the routes, while posting a 23% TPRR and 20% target share. During that stretch, Watson was the WR22 in fantasy points per game (13.2), but the underlying metrics prove that, with added volume, he can do so much more.
Watson Weeks 8-18:
- 17.5 Yd/Rec (2nd)
- 2.54 YPRR (8th)
- 11 plays of 20-plus yards (10th)
- 6 TDs (5th)
Overall, Watson ranked fifth among all wideouts in fantasy points per route (0.57), and entering the 2026 campaign, there’s a lot to be excited about.
For starters, the departure of Doubs and Wicks opens up more routes and targets, two things that have been a bit limited for Watson in Green Bay’s receiver rotation. Throughout his career, Watson has averaged just under five targets per game, while never eclipsing a 20% target share. I fully expect both numbers to rise quite a bit this season, especially if Green Bay continues to deploy plenty of two-wide sets. Watson is the unquestioned starting receiver when the Packers are in 12 personnel, a formation they deployed 20 plays per game a year ago (sixth-most). Generally, more targets for a high-upside, super-efficient player are very exciting.
Speaking of upside, we like touchdowns in fantasy, right? I thought so. Watson has scored 20 touchdowns on 133 career receptions (15%) and if he plays a full season, it genuinely wouldn’t shock me if he reached double-digit scores. Since Watson entered the NFL in 2022, both he and Doubs are tied with 32 end zone targets. And just last season, they also tied for a 33% end zone target share when Watson was healthy. Doubs also accounted for 32% of the Packers' targets from inside the 10-yard line, the eighth-highest rate in football. So Watson has essentially been splitting end zone looks with Doubs, yet still has scored plenty of touchdowns. And now Doubs is gone?
Say less.
Some may look at Watson’s production from last year and attribute it to the absences of Reed and Tucker Kraft. And that's fair. Watson played just four games with Reed and less than two with Kraft. But given the extension and everything else we’ve seen this offseason, it’s also fair to assume the Packers will feature Watson more than they ever have.

Christian Watson Dynasty Value After Contract Extension
After signing a one-year extension last September, Watson was in line to play on the final year of his contract, so this extension is phenomenal for his dynasty value. He just turned 27 years old last month and, because of injuries, hasn’t even come close to reaching his full potential.
Watson is being paid significant money and will be used as the WR1 in an offense led by Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love. That seems like a really good place to be. No doubt about it, his dynasty value is on the rise.
