Each week, Cooterdoodle will be breaking down all the pain and punishment that transpires in our very own BWW Punishment Eliminator League.

18 will enter, but 17 will leave with their tails between their legs as they are forced to face a season-ending punishment.

BWW Punishment Eliminator League

We’re moving on to Week 9, and the league has dwindled down less than half of the teams we started with. The punishment gods have spoken once again! Today we’ll have a full recap of:

But the rules are fairly simple: SURVIVE or face the consequences (read: the Punishment Generator).

Bye Week Blessings?

Each season, leagues come with different draft strategies. Your strategies are partially dependent upon the scoring and roster construction of your league, but the best ball format brings its own challenges.

Add in an eliminator league, and we’re really cooking with some heat that can kick us out of the kitchen in a heartbeat.

As we roll into Week 9, the few teams remaining are starting to sweat about bye weeks. Think about it. If you have several players on bye, your odds of being eliminated are significantly higher with those players sitting out and giving you a big, fat zero for the week.

I'm going to be honest…I did not look at bye weeks during the draft. I’m not sure if anyone did given the massive panic that was baked into an 18-team draft. You were drafting players for their big play abilities, their consistency, and towards the end…it was good enough that a player was just on an NFL roster somewhere with a chance to touch the football.

Will Week 9 byes close the casket on one of our leaguemates? I don’t have the answer yet, but come back next week to see! 

For now, let’s talk about what happened in Week 8.

Week 8 Results

The results from Week 8 are in!

What’s notably different this week is how many teams are putting up absolutely dominant numbers. The top eight teams all scored over 100 points this week.

I’m not sure if I’m excited to be included in the pack or if I’m nervous to see the competition increasing. It’s truly anyone’s week to lose, and impending elimination is nipping at all of our heels.

Here’s how the league did this week with some added context of risers and fallers:

We started with 18 teams but have since been cut down to just 10 teams remaining!

This is starting to get real because next week, we will officially be in single-digit territory.

This weekly results graphic is shrinking with each passing week. Not only is it a physical representation of the time we have left before the season comes to an end, but it’s also a reminder of what the punishment generator has accomplished.

Like parents with a newborn, the generator never sleeps. 10 of us are safely moving into Week 9, but someone didn’t make it out from Week 8. And it’s time for them to pay…

As we know, the dreaded eliminator is waiting in the (Buffalo Wild) wings to come for us all, and this week, it's coming for Jake Trowbridge.

Proof of Punishment (PP)

It’s finally time for what you’ve all been waiting for. The big PP reveal. 

The Punishment Generator results were rolled out prior to Week 8 and revealed that the loser would have to complete a Spelling Bee. Jake checked his hometown and scoured the internet for spelling bees in his home state, but to no avail.

But don’t fret! We’ve created the first annual (well, and probably also last) Fantasy Life Spelling Bee.

So without further adieu, here’s Jake’s punishment!

We’re sorry to see Jake go. But we march on!

Nitty Gritty Breakdown:

• Teams remaining: 10
• Teams eliminated: Marcas, Freedman, Jonathan, Ian, Waz, Kendall, Chris, and Jake
• Punishment on Deck: Combine Time

With Jake's elimination, we’re on to a new beginning. And unfortunately, we're faced with another few days of sweating it out while we await the fresh agony of the upcoming Week 9 results.

On to Week 9

As for the survivors: another one down with nine eliminations to go.

How punishments are decided:

• Generate a random punishment with our Punishment Generator
• Announce the punishment to the league prior to kickoff
• Boot the loser from the league once the games have concluded
• Collect Proof of Punishment (PP)
• Expose everything on FantasyLife.com

We won’t know who has to pay the price until all the Week 9 games conclude on Monday night, but we do know that someone is going to have to stretch and put on their running shoes because the Punishment Generator has spoken.

Drumroll, please…

That’s right, the team with the lowest score from Week 9 will have to complete all of the fabulously exhaustive aspects of the NFL Combine. And not only do they have to perform these feats of strength, but they obviously also have to record the fun and share it with all of us!

Stay tuned for an update next week after the losing team submits their Proof of Punishment (PP), and we kick them from the league.
