In this week's roundtable, Kendall Valenzuela and Footballguys' Joey Wright join me for some predictions on Garrett Wilson, Jerry Jeudy, Jerry Jones… and more.

1. Expectations for the “New” Jets

 Alright alright. Let’s just address the f*cking elephant in the room. 

Now that Robert Saleh has been fired and Davante Adams has been traded to the Jets… Do you think New York has finally done enough to secure the approval of Aaron Rodgers? What more could the man want?! 

Oh, and what are your expectations for Garrett Wilson moving forward? 

Joey: I am not sure there is ever satisfying Aaron Rodgers, but this is about as close as I imagine we will get. The New York Jets have now brought in his two favorite targets — three if we count the retired Randall Cobb — in Adams and Allen Lazard. 

As far as Garrett Wilson, I do not think we have seen the end of his fantasy relevance. His time as a top 12 wide receiver though has come to an end. I have Garrett Wilson ranked as a mid-range WR2 along the lines of Brandon Aiyuk and Devonta Smith. Gone are the games of 22 targets, but games of 10-12 targets when the game script calls for it are well within possibility. 

Kendall: Everyone should aim to have someone look at you and treat you like the Jets do Aaron Rodgers. Truly at this point we should all be jealous. 

ANYWAYS… Davante Adams to the Jets finally happened and it felt like this was coming since Netflix’s Receiver came out. If you’re an Adams manager you couldn’t be happier — suddenly his hamstring injury is in the past and he now has a real quarterback that he already has a strong connection with. I don’t think it takes Adams any time at all to start giving us solid fantasy production.

For Garrett Wilson, I do not think we should panic. He is going to be a mid-range WR2 with Adams in town, and that may be disappointing to some because he probably won’t return his first-round draft pick value. With Adams around, teams won't be able to focus on Wilson exclusively, which could open up some games for him. Here’s hoping that Aaron Rodgers can support two fantasy receivers. 

Cooterdoodle:  I’ll guess I’ll say what no one wants to admit… No. Nothing is going to ever make Aaron Rodgers happy. 

There’s no amount of money, WRs, head coaches, hair styles, or psychedelic drugs that could ever satisfy Rodgers.

2. Expectations for the Browns left behind

With Amari Cooper heading to Buffalo, which (if any) Cleveland pass catchers benefit from his absence? Are you steering clear entirely?

What about the Browns’ backfield? Does Nick Chubb’s return make you any more hopeful for the Browns offense moving forward? Are you targeting anyone in trades?

Kendall: Yes, Amari Cooper going to the Buffalo Bills technically makes Jerry Jeudy THE WR1 on the Browns, but I want no part of it. He still has the worst quarterback throwing him the ball every single week. Let’s add some stats in here just to show how bad it really has been in Cleveland…

Per ESPN, the offense ranks 31st in EPA per play and is 31st in points per drive (averaging a league-worst 19.5 yards per possession). Oh, and Deshaun Watson? He ranks last in the league in Total QBR (21.5) and ranks last in cumulative EPA on dropbacks through the first six weeks of any season since 2000. Shut. It. Down. That’s the only way we get excited about starting Jeudy. Will he pop for some games? Sure. But we basically have to copy and paste the tough start/sit decisions we had with Amari Cooper and put them on Jeudy now. 

I’m not targeting anyone in this offense for trades. I am so excited to see Nick Chubb back, and I’m curious if the team eases him into play the first few weeks or not.

Joey: The only pass catcher I am interested in for the Browns would be David Njoku. Watson has never been the most reliable quarterback in getting his tight ends the ball, but Njoku’s reliability could help get Watson back on a track he’s veered very far off from. Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore will factor in as well, but I do not see either of them as anything more than bye week replacements. 

This offense needs to flow through a healthy Nick Chubb. The Browns still have one of the best defenses in the league, but Watson’s abysmal play this season has kept the defense on the field more than needed. Last season, the Browns led the league in time of possession. In 2024, they rank 17th. Chubb’s return to this offense should slow things down and put Cleveland on a better foot. That foot being the feet of Chubb. Legs and thighs, too.

3. Messing with Jerry Jones' birthday

As you may have heard, Jerry Jones was forced to watch the Detroit/Dallas Beat Down on his 82nd birthday where the Cowboys lost FORTY SEVEN TO NINE! Oof. 

How would you like to see the NFL top that experience for Mr. Jones next year when he celebrates turning 83? 

Kendall: Yeah, I think we can all say we’ve had better birthday parties than the one the Cowboys threw Jerry Jones on Sunday. It was the worst home loss in Jones' time as owner of the Cowboys, which dates back to 1989. YIKES. I think the best present the league can give Jerry to ensure a better birthday next year is to just schedule every game for the Cowboys to be on the road, because they may never win at home again???

In Dallas’ last four home games, (including the playoff loss to the Packers) the Cowboys have been outscored in the first half 110-35!!!!!!!! Give them only road games until they figure things out.

Joey: Picture this. It's the Dallas Cowboys' home opener. The NFL, Cowboys fans, and the Metro Dallas-Forth Worth area have all pooled together to get Jerry Jones an early birthday present. At the 50 yard line is a giant box with a big ribbon. Jones unties the ribbon, the box falls to the ground: inside is the new General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys! Yee-haw! 

Whether it’s Bill Belichick, Jon Gruden, or the ghost of Tom Landry, Jerry Jones needs to bring in someone to make the decisions for the Cowboys. Talking heads have been saying this for years. We are not breaking molds with this suggestion. Until we get someone else making the decisions in Dallas, early playoff exits and mediocre seasons will be the only present Jerry will get. 

Cooterdoodle: Wait… Did Kendall just say that Jerry Jones has been the owner of the Cowboys since 1989?! That’s literally the same year the World Wide Web was invented. 

Jerry Jones’ ownership of the Cowboys spans the entire timeline from the beginning of the World Wide Web all the way through the invention of Chat GPT. 

For his next birthday, I think the NFL should award Jones with a cake each time Dallas scores a TD! How cute would that be??

Although… This year, the Lions would’ve gotten five whole cakes. And Jerry Jones would’ve gotten zero. 

4. The Biggest Sin of Fantasy Football Trading is… 

TOUGH LOVE TIME. I think we need to address the pervasive trade problems that many leaguemates are facing day in and day out. And the first step toward fixing a problem is acknowledging that there is a problem… So, what’s the biggest no-good very-bad cardinal sin of fantasy football trading?

Kendall: I am very pro-fantasy trades. I think to get real ones done it takes a lot of time and research to get the very best out of them. HOWEVER, if you’re that guy that sends everyone 5-10 trades per week, you are the problem. Trust me, we have side chats going on saying how annoying it is. I understand that you want to fix your roster and you’re putting in the effort (kind of), but if you need 10 trade requests just to get one done then you just need to be better. Take that time to put more thought into these trades, because that’s what successful fantasy trades are made of! Or at least make them more realistic. We are not trading Josh Allen for Will Levis and a gift card to Dennys!

Joey: As my former coworker at Front Yard Fantasy Josh Fewster used to say, “Trading Makes Fantasy Fun.” It’s one of the powers we have and we should exercise it a healthy amount. That being said, no one likes a Willy Nilly Trader. This is the gal or guy who just flings a trade out without weighing it for both sides. If you aren’t looking at the needs of your trade partner at all, you are doing it wrong. Of course you want to feel like you are winning the trade, but there has to be some balance there. 

Cooterdoodle: As Joey’s former coworker Josh Fewster used to say, “Trading Makes Fantasy Fun.” Don’t be a fun sucker. And most of all, stop putting pressure on me, man! 

You can’t rush perfection. So, stop hounding me!
